Mets Crush Phillies For 12th Win In 14 Games

The New York Mets continued their recent hot streak on Thursday night, dismantling the Philadelphia Phillies 11-3 at Citi Field for their 12th win in their last 14 games.

The Mets offense was firing on all cylinders, with first baseman Pete Alonso, center fielder Brandon Nimmo and left fielder Mark Canha all collecting three hits apiece. But it was designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach, catcher Tomas Nido and right fielder Starling Marte who provided the big blows.

Vogelbach gave the Mets an early 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off Phillies starter Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the first inning. Nido followed with a solo homer of his own in the third for a 3-0 advantage.

The Phillies would cut the deficit to 3-1 on a solo homer by left fielder Kyle Schwarber in the top of the fourth. However, the Mets would respond with three more runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Nimmo's two-run double.

The Mets would continue to pour it on, scoring four more runs in the fifth inning. Marte got things started with a two-run single, and Nimmo and Bader followed with back-to-back RBI singles to make it 11-1.

The Phillies would manage to add two more runs in the top of the seventh, but it was too little, too late as the Mets cruised to an 11-3 victory. The win improved the Mets' record to 40-20 on the season, while the Phillies dropped to 34-25.

Mets' Power Surge Fuels Offensive Explosion

The Mets' offense has been clicking on all cylinders lately, and their power surge continued on Thursday night. The Mets hit three home runs in the game, including a two-run homer by Daniel Vogelbach and solo shots by Tomas Nido and Brandon Nimmo.

The Mets now have 90 home runs on the season, which ranks third in the National League. They are also tied for sixth in the league in runs scored with 345.

The Mets' offense has been led by Pete Alonso, who has 20 home runs and 60 RBIs. Jeff McNeil is also having a strong season with a .333 batting average, 10 home runs and 41 RBIs.

Mets' Pitching Staff Shines Again

The Mets' pitching staff has been one of the best in baseball this season, and they continued to shine on Thursday night. Taijuan Walker gave up just one run on four hits in five innings of work, and the bullpen was equally impressive.

The Mets' bullpen has a 3.00 ERA this season, which ranks second in the National League. They have also struck out 282 batters in 234 innings pitched.

The Mets' pitching staff has been led by Jacob deGrom, who has a 1.67 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched. Max Scherzer has also been excellent with a 2.29 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched.
