Scotland v Switzerland: Euro 2024 preview
Scotland will be looking to continue their strong start to Euro 2024 when they face Switzerland in their second group game on Monday.
Steve Clarke's side opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic, and a victory against the Swiss would put them in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages.
Switzerland, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat to Spain. Vladimir Petkovic's side were beaten 1-0 by the world champions, but they will be confident of causing Scotland problems.
The two sides have met once before at a major tournament, with Scotland winning 1-0 in the group stages of the 1996 European Championship. Scotland will be hoping for a similar result on Monday, but they will need to be at their best to overcome a talented Swiss side.
Clarke has targeted four points from Scotland's last two games, though that doesn't mean they will be playing for a draw tonight.
"We want to win every game we play," said Clarke. "We know Switzerland will be a tough opponent, but we are confident in our ability to get a result."
Scotland will be without the suspended Kieran Tierney, but they have a number of other talented players in their squad, including Andy Robertson, Scott McTominay and John McGinn.
Switzerland, meanwhile, will be led by Granit Xhaka, who is one of the best midfielders in the world. Xhaka will be supported by a number of other talented players, including Xherdan Shaqiri and Breel Embolo.
The match is likely to be a close and competitive affair, and it could go either way. Scotland will need to be at their best to get a result, but they have the quality to do so.
