Eurovision 2024: Israel reaches final amid anti-Israel protests

Israel has made it through to the final of the Eurovision song contest, setting the stage for a tense and possibly controversial final.
The annual international televised song contest is one of the world's most popular, with over 200 million viewers tuning in each year. Israel has participated in the contest 45 times since its first appearance in 1973, and has won four times.
This year's contest is being held in Tel Aviv, Israel, and has been overshadowed by protests from pro-Palestinian activists. The activists are calling for a boycott of the contest, and have accused Israel of human rights abuses.
Despite the protests, the contest is going ahead as planned, and Israel is one of the favorites to win. The country's entry, "Set Me Free" by Eden Golan, is a powerful ballad that has been praised by critics.
The final of the Eurovision song contest will be held on Saturday, May 18. It will be broadcast live from Tel Aviv, and will feature 26 countries competing for the title.
